News Release
A miracle on Main Street in Oregon City
On Monday, March 22, 2010 Ria Scott, 44, experienced what we all fear — she lost her wallet.
What was of immediate, particular concern to Ria Scott was that she had recently emigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines — and her wallet contained her immigration papers (her green card), assorted valuable documents and a considerable amount of U.S. currency.
Ria Scott works for De-Paul Security as a Security Entrance Screener at the Oregon City Courthouse in Oregon City. Ria was devastated by the loss — crying while reporting the lost wallet to courthouse-assigned Clackamas County Deputy Andrew McVey.
On Tuesday, March 23, 2010 (this morning) this tearful event turned into a breathtaking, joyous occasion.
While inside the Courthouse, Deputy McVey was listening and attempting to console Ria Scott as she explained the loss of her wallet. Suddenly, a man arrived at the courthouse with Ria Scott’s wallet in hand — and it was totally intact, containing all her priceless documents and currency. A miracle on Main Street!
This extraordinary Good Samaritan is named Sebastian Vasquez, 26, of Woodburn. Mr. Vasquez works as a landscaper for Earthworks Landscaping in Aurora.
Sebastian Vasquez explained that while working late Monday afternoon (March 22) in Oregon City, he found Ria Scott’s wallet on the pavement. He was performing his landscaping work at the time, and held the found wallet until today, when he had the first opportunity to drive –accompanied by his wife and children — from his family residence in Woodburn to the Oregon City Courthouse in an attempt to locate the victim, Ria Scott.
Deputy McVey indicates that parking can be difficult in Oregon City, and Sebastian Vasquez found it necessary to park his automobile and family five blocks from the Courthouse to then continue on foot to return the wallet.
Ria Scott reportedly cheerfully hugged Sebastian in the Courthouse with an enormous amount of gratitude and joyful tears after having the wallet returned to her. Deputy McVey, who witnessed this event, said, “It was great to watch — she was devastated, and all of a sudden in the door comes the wallet from this genuinely good-hearted, honest man. She was thrilled!!”
I hope you enjoyed learning about this good deed as much as I did. I also have it on good authority that Deputy McVey is going to the Olive Garden this evening to obtain a gift certificate for Sebastian and his family. Not just one good deed today — we have two on this occasion. And we have sunshine today, too!

OK, a word to the wise. Do not use Twittbank to find followers. It just took me two days to pair down the 2000 people I was now automatically following. Yikes. Better to find people to follow organically, takes some time but worth it.
Another suggestion, if you do use this app. be very specific, for example if you put in Mexico because you like to travel there, you will get 2000 tweets in Spanish.
